Milwaukee's Washington Park is home to the Washington Park Senior Center, the Band Shell, the Vliet Street Community Green Market and Urban Ecology Center, which provides educational and environmental programming. Now, the 124-acre park also contains a makeshift memorial for Daniel J. Gardner, who was killed Monday afternoon at a playground. Mourners have tied several stuffed bears around a lightpost at the playground and taped up homemade signs reading "Rest in Peace" with the 17-year-old's picture on them.
